Recruitment Process Outsourcing ( RPO )
Recruitment process Outsourcing (RPO) is a workforce solution in which the organization transfer all or part of their recruitment process to an external party. RPO is a form of corporation, in which an external supplier selects the most appropriate methods used through the RPO and RPO is a solution that has enormous potential. The rapid growth in the RPO market in past few years is the evidence to this (Coculova, 2011).
Benefits of RPO
1. Higher Quality Talent
An RPO provider’s main responsibility is to ensure that the organization gets the best permanent employees, even in markets which are very difficult. With an RPO, the time, energy and expertise in sourcing, screening and onboarding new staff ensure that a business gets the best talent. RPO can create talent Pool to provide a ready-made line of talent ready to join a client’s business. Also, RPO providers have a large database of talent and have schemes to attract previously ignored talent. Further RPO providers who engage diverse talent pools offer big boosts to businesses (Talent Solutions, 2023).
2. Cost Efficiency
This method can be considered as a cost-effective method as RPO providers most often measured on time to hire, cost of hire & quality of hire. Also, role of RPO is to ensure that vacancies for the permanent positions do not remain open for months at a time. Each day with a vacant position will result high cost and low productivity. A fully optimized RPO ensure that these negative factors remain at a minimum.
3. Agile, scalable permanent recruitment
In any organization, recruitment is rarely consistent. If an organization is opening a new section, it will require large number of staff as quickly as possible. Also, there will be months which does not require any new requirements. RPO Providers develop structures within an organization that’s adaptable to any situation, scaling teams up or down whenever necessary. This can assure the certainty they need when an unexpected recruitment requirement comes to the fore.
4. Global compliance
Since the laws regarding employment can change all the time it is very crucial to staying on top of what is and isn’t compliant. RPO make sure that all the recruitments are compliant with local regulations. For global businesses this is very important. A global RPO provider’s expertise ensure that businesses don’t face any legal issues when recruiting new staff. In this way, businesses can ensure every recruitment is compliant with local laws.
5. Reduce advertising Cost & Talent acquisition spend
Publishing job vacancies to attract most promising staff is expensive. If an organization have an RPO provider this will be the responsibility of RPO provider. Therefore, advertising cost will be eliminated.
Also, RPO is one of the most effective method which can be used to reduce talent acquisition spend. Finding talent is time consuming even for the best HR professionals. RPO providers are able to find talent even for the job roles which is difficult to fill thanks to their dedicated expertise.
6. Latest Technology
Keep in touch with latest innovation is bit difficult for HR professionals. With tight budgets, investing in talent acquisition tech is not possible for most of the organizations. However, RPO providers regularly invest in latest technology to ensure that clients acquire the talent they need to success (Rodriguez, 2019).
7. Enhanced Candidate Engagement
Candidate engagement is very important when recruiting. This significant task can take HR professionals away from their main objective. An RPO provider offer the expertise to fully utilize the candidates experience for an organization. It will increase the probability of attracting top talent and it impacts the ability to expand the market share within the industry.
Types of RPO services
• End-to-end RPO
An End-to-end RPO can be used in a single business, single market or a global enterprise. It includes all hiring services and technology investments. This offers the highest cost saving and efficiency for a business and typically increase the client satisfaction. With the growth of the end-to-end RPO, value-added services such as employer branding increases the quality of the recruitment.
• Project RPO
A project RPO also utilize an end-to-end process but it only there to quickly bring in experts to fulfil an unexpected employment requirement. For an example, launching a new product.
• On Demand RPO
Similar to a Project RPO but more short-term, an on-demand RPO involves recruiters joining for a short period of time to rapidly attract and hire the talent needs to the organization. Often, an on-demand RPO is sought out during spikes in hiring. Though it allows businesses to move quickly, the benefits aren’t as extensive as an end-to-end RPO solution as it lacks technology implementation and added benefits like employer branding (Broadleaf , 2024).
How RPO Different from Traditional Recruitment
An RPO service provider doesn’t just fill permanent roles on an ad hoc basis, it embeds itself within an organization, fundamentally changing the way a business hires permanent talent.
Though no two solutions are the same, a good RPO solution is strategic. It should take ownership of the design and management of the recruitment process. It should embed the latest technology to ensure maximum efficiency, it should provide regular data analysis, and it should provide regular reports on the effectiveness of the solution
